PAST SIMPLE

"the Simple Past express an idea that an action started and finished at a specific time in the past"


Example:
Where did you go yesterday?
The flight go at 8 o'clock.They didn't come last night

Usage: Finished past actions, definite past

PAST CONTINOUS

we use this verb to describe an action that was happening in a concrete moment in the past.

exemple : Peter was reading a book

it also describes an action interrumped by a shorter action.

exemple : they got while everybody was dancing

it descrbes two actions that were happing at the same time.

example: i was watching TV while my brother was studying english.
