SANT VALENTINE
The Day of Sant Valentine is a traditional celebration in which the fiancés, enamoured, husbands or wives express their love or affection. It is celebrated on 14 of February.
In many countries they call it Day of the Enamoured. Particularly in Colombia, by commercial reasons, this day is celebrated the third weekend of September and it’s known as Day of the Love and the Friendship.
Sant Valentine talks about a number of holy martyrs who lived in old Rome. The celebration of sant Valentine was celebrated by the Roman Catholic Church each 14 of February since 1969. The celebration of San Valentine was celebrated for the first time around year 498 by Pope Gelasio I. The creation of this celebration can have been to eliminate the celebration of the Lupercales, a pagan celebration that was celebrated the 15 of February. According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, sant Valentine was probably one of the three martyrs who lived at the end of century III.
The celebration was introduced in Spain in the middle of century XX, with the sole aim to increase the purchase of gifts.
Love’s poem
I love them both, can't have them both. It's tearing me apart! My former joy and present boy:Both have got my heart.
I have to choose, so I must loseSomeone I really love.It feels like dirt that I must hurtA guy that I dream of.
Why this must be I cannot see;I only know I must. Each might endure, for I am sureThat this is love, not lust.
I weep and wail to no avail;I can't say no to either. But if I can't tell what I want,Could that mean I want neither?
